Second Surgery Recovery Days 11-14: Feeling great

It's been 14 days since I had my second surgery. In my second surgery the surgeon removed the plates and screws from my first surgery, expanded my top jaw and also worked on my bottom jaw. X-rays show that everything is healing perfectly.

I feel excellent considering my jaw is wired shut, and especially considering that I can't consume anything unless it's completely liquid. If it's not liquid it won't get past my locked jaw. Even with the best blender, you can't completely turn certain foods into liquid. You can get it close, but the pieces won't be able to make it between my teeth.

Over the last four days my swelling has continued to reduce. I've begun having the tingly feelings around my chin and mouth, as expected. The green bruising on my chest is going away. Bruising is normal following jaw surgery. The weak feeling is gone that I had in my legs when taking walks last week.

The only real annoyance I'm experiencing right now is the fact that I have a splint, bite plate and wires in my mouth. I expect the wires to be cut in two weeks, and I believe the bite plate comes out the same day. The splint comes out in four weeks. I should be back on soft foods in 4-6 weeks and solid foods soon thereafter.

Right now I'm passing the time with Far Cry 4 and Day of Defeat: Source on PC, tv shows, movies, walks and cleaning. I can't wait to have a burger and fries in a few weeks. Right now I'm only drinking Ensure, soups, water, Gatorade and ice cream shakes.
