First Surgery Recovery Day 10: Coughing and soup

I didn't mention it yet but I have been coughing a lot when going to bed each night. The two thick pillows under my head keep me elevated to reduce swelling, but it seems saliva gets stuck around my throat and then chokes me every now and then. I usually am eventually able to go to sleep. Last night it was tough, but I got a few hours. I woke up around 8:30, messed around on my computer, had an Ensure and a cup of scrambled eggs, cheese and water, then went to the post office to mail two packages, one to an eBay winner and another to return some shirts. Thanks to my girlfriend for being so kind as to speak with the post office lady.

We then went to Target and returned an unopened DVD, and I bought some toothpaste while she got a greeting card for her mom's birthday. We returned home and I had some Chicken with Rice soup, blended, and the rest of the day was spent relaxing, watching tv, taking out the trash and recycle, cleaning up a bit and then having some more soup and a shake for dinner. I only took one Ibuprofen today, then a Vicodin around bedtime. Pain isn't bad at all, though I'd like to be prepared in the case that it rears its ugly head.

For dinner my girlfriend made the best soup I've had yet. It felt like I was eating real Mexican food, and it was so good. It's a black bean soup recipe, and she made some changes to make it better. She used beef broth instead of water, stirred in about 1/4 cup Mexican cheese right before putting it all in the blender and I would throw a small bit of sour cream on top every time I took a sip. I highly recommend it.

Lastly, this website went live today. Hooray!
